Hasina Rakouth

I benefited from a scholarship from Blue Ventures during January and February 2008 in Andavadoaka.

During the 6 wonderful weeks that I was there, I really got many experiences and learnt so much about diving, marine ecosystems and different cultures. Learning to dive was the best experience in my life! What an impressive vision, when you see the diversity of fish and corals under the sea, with their beautiful colours and shapes! I never imagined that aquatic life was so amazing, and diving was so easy, although I was little bit afraid before!

I will never forget all the memorable moments I had there, because all the things that I did there were so cool. I really appreciated the fact that all the volunteers taught English to the Malagasy people in Andavadoaka, and they participated in social activities, like the Women's Association, painting and dancing!!! I also enjoyed seeing more places in Madagascar, meeting new people, making new friends, and improving my English!

Now, I follow my studies in The University of Antananarivo, in the third year of Science (in Botany and Ecology). Doing the surveys of the seagrass beds and mangroves in Andavadoaka, really helped me in my studies.
