Community Research Coordinator

Belo-sur-mer, Madagascar

Brian’s main responsibilities in Belo-sur-Mer involve the oversight of all socio-economic surveying related to the establishment, and on-going monitoring and evaluation of the Kirindy-Mite MPA. Additionally, Brian is responsible for cultivating strong working relationships with local communities as well as regional partner organizations such as the national parks service.

“In the half decade that I’ve been working throughout Madagascar, Blue Ventures has stood out as the one organisation that is really getting it right - engaging communities and developing real solutions to conservation challenges. I don’t say this because I work for BV. I work for BV because I can say this.”

Previous to joining Blue Ventures, Brian was a United States Peace Corps Volunteer in a rural village in central Madagascar where he worked on sustainable agriculture and erosion control. Following his two years with the Peace Corps, Brian was Project Coordinator for the British NGO Reef Doctor, based in Ifaty, Southwest Madagascar, working with local communities towards sustainable management of marine resources.
