Daniel plays a crucial role in many areas of Blue Ventures' community outreach, having been closely involved in the development of all conservation programmes within the Velondriake region. He is responsible for facilitating community meetings and coordinating closure schedules for octopus marine reserves.
With Masters and DEA degrees in applied oceanography from the University of Toliara's IHSM, Daniel has worked with Blue Ventures since 2006.
Daniel was responsible for the initial training and establishment of the Fiherenana masay PACP region, which has resulted in over five seasonal closures since 2008. Daniel lead community training sessions in Rodriguez for creation of no-take-zones based on the Velondriake model. He conducted a groundbreaking study of the Octopus Cyanea for his DEA research that led to the decision of the Madagascar Government to implement yearly octopus fishery closures.
