Radio France International (RFI): "Madagascar est l’une des plus grande îles du monde, mais sa population est finalement assez peu tournée vers la mer. Dans le sud-ouest du pays, autour de la ville de Tuléar, on trouve cependant une fameuse ethnie de pêcheurs, les Vezos. Dans un environnement difficile, et sur des pirogues qui ne leur permettent de s’éloigner trop du rivage, ils vivent presque exclusivement de la mer. Mais, l’essor démographique et certaines techniques destructrices menacent, et il fallait réagir avant que la ressource ne se tarisse définitivement. Depuis une dizaine d’années, un programme de conservation a été mis en place, et avec le temps, les Vezos ont compris qu’il leur fallait faire certains sacrifices pour entretenir leur richesse."

Radio France International (RFI): "A Madagascar, la surexploitation des ressources marines inquiète les scientifiques. Une étude menée par l’association Blue Ventures basée dans le sud de la Grande île montre que les quantités pêchées seraient largement supérieures aux chiffres officiels. L’augmentation de la pêche industrielle et de la pêche traditionnelle conduit à une diminution des ressources. La pêche crevettière par exemple recule déjà depuis quelques années. Et pour les populations locales, l’insécurité alimentaire s’aggrave. Correspondance à Antananarivo, Marie Audran."
