Charlie is a Marine Ecologist with a Master's degree from the University of Plymouth.

After University, Charlie worked as a Presenter and Educational assistant at Living Coasts in Torquay and the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth.

Charlie has been working with Blue Ventures since 2007 when she started as an intern in the London office. Following a subsequent year working as a field scientist in Andavadoaka, Charlie has lead a number of marine research expeditions to other areas of Madagascar's west coast, working with other research organisations in the region including WWF, Madagascar National Parks and CORDIO (IUCN).

From 2009 to 2011 she set-up the marine & coastal research projects at the new field site in Belo-sur-Mer where Blue Ventures is now working with Madagascar National Parks to establish a marine extension to the existing terrestrial Kirindy Mite National park. Charlie also led the first Blue Ventures marine research expedition to the Barren Isles in November 2011. She now continues to manage the marine field research activities, oversee the monitoring of traditional fisheries and assists with the development and establishment of new research projects within Blue Ventures.

In 2012 Charlie will be part of a small research team working in Ghana to document the status of marine resources and establish Ghana's first Marine Protected Area
