Olivier's academic background is centred on territorial governance and protected areas management, with various field experiences on conservation initiatives in the Indian Ocean, the Caribbean and Central Pacific.

He first came to Madagascar in 2010 to carry out his Master's thesis which focused on the establishment of the Nosy Hara Marine Park in the Diana region. In collaboration with the British NGO Community-Centered-Conservation (C3) and Madagascar National Parks, he focused on stakeholder participation and community integration. Olivier is fluent in both French & English and also enjoys basketball, climbing and skiing.
