Tess

Health Project Co-ordinator

UK

Tess joined Blue Ventures as a staff member in April 2011

Her role involves helping to source equipment for site, keeping our funders happy and generally making sure the whole world gets to hear about the great work improving community health that the Safidy (meaning 'choice' in Malagasy) team are doing out in Madagascar. She has worked in the charity sector for ten years supporting a wide range of causes as a volunteer, staff member, fundraiser and Trustee.

In the summer of 2010, Tess hiked 1100 miles from John o' Groats to Land's End to raise awareness and funds for Blue Ventures' Safidy project. Her article on this hike won The Guardian Travel Writing Competition 2010, and she has since been short-listed for The Wellcome Trust Science Writing Prize 2011.

She has never said no to a cup of tea in her life and, when not glued to her computer, can usually be found plotting the next big adventure.
