Introduction This article provides current information about neonatal mortality and resuscitation training in low- and middle-income countries. It describes the approach taken by two British paediatricians who benefited from the infrastructure and communication networks built up by a well-established conservation organisation to improve awareness and resuscitation capacity for babies born in remote rural areas of Madagascar.
