Clara Johnston

Field Scientist
Andavadoaka, Madagascar

After graduating with a BSc in Biology, Clara decided to pursue her interest in Marine Biology, and went on to complete an MSc in Marine Environmental Management at the University of York. Due to her interest in fisheries policy and management specifically, she decided to focus on this during her MSc, and wrote her thesis on the management of high sea fish stocks in addition to completing research on small scale fisheries in the Indian Ocean.

After graduating she spent some time working as a Marine Biologist in the Maldives focussing mainly on Manta Ray and Turtle conservation. While there, she also implemented a recreational fisheries management plan and completed her PADI Divemaster qualification.

Clara joined the Blue Ventures team in July 2018 as a Field Scientist, and is exceptionally excited to contribute to the work being done by Blue Ventures in Madagascar!
