David Parreño Duque


Field Programmes Support Manager

David started working for Blue Ventures in April 2016 as our Expedition Manager in Andavadoaka; he then became in 2018 the Site Leader in the Bay of Mahajamba and was back in 2019 to Andavadoaka as our South West Site Leader. He is currently our Field Programmes Support Manager in the UK.

He is a passionate Zoologist who gained his degree in Biological Sciences from the University Complutense of Madrid in Spain and the University of Rome III in Italy. He is also a PADI Instructor and Emergency First Response Instructor. David has participated in numerous field research studies with a focus over the last years before joining Blue Ventures on conservation and environmental management projects. First in Costa Rica, where he coordinated a watershed conservation project and worked as a volunteer coordinator and head of emergencies at Piro Biological Station. Then in Spain, where he worked in water quality and environmental management projects with United Research Services.

In his spare time, David is also the President & Founder of Sustainable Information International (SII), an organisation that fights again overfishing by giving information to customers in bars and restaurants about sustainable choices. He is a jack of all trades that loves teaching, reading and listening to Bruce Springsteen music.
