Dianeri Cabrera

Education and Outreach Assistant

Dianeri has always had an admiration for Sarteneja’s fishers and the work they have to endure to provide for their family, and this has turned into an appreciation of Belizean coastal ecosystems. It was always amazing to her living so close to the sea, yet knowing so little about it.

Her first exploration of the sea was at the age of 16 when she snorkelled for the first time in her life. She was a natural, properly using fins on her first try. She was born to do this!

Dianeri has an Associate’s Degree in Science with a Concentration in Mathematics and Biology. Unable to pursue her dream of becoming a Marine Biologist, she enrolled as a High school Biology teacher for 7 years which she loved doing. She was still able to teach her students about Belizean ecosystems and how we were influenced by them and vice versa.

Dianeri joined our Belize Team in late 2017 as a Community Officer. Today, she is an Education and Outreach Assistant. She looks forward to working with us and cannot wait for her first dive in the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef.
