Jean-Philippe Palasi

Madagascar Country Director
Antananarivo, Madagascar

Jean-Philippe’s story with Blue Ventures started as a volunteer in Andavadoaka during his sabbatical year. He was so inspired by his experience that he decided to run for the position of Madagascar Country Director.

Jean-Philippe’s responsibility is to provide vision, leadership and clear management to the Madagascar team, overseeing safe and effective delivery of activities. He also has important roles engaging partners and leading strategy development for the Madagascar programme, as well as contributing to the wider BV strategy.

Jean-Philippe has 15 years of experience working in development and conservation, with a focus on tropical ecosystems. At the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), he created programmes dedicated to overseas territories, supporting grassroots initiatives in the Caribbean, the Indian Ocean and the Pacific. He then worked for Conservation International (CI), where he established their European office and supported terrestrial and marine conservation efforts around the world.

A French national with a masters in Economics and Political Science from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris, Jean-Philippe is an afro-optimist and is passionate about Madagascar, where he travelled multiple times and volunteered twice.
