Jennifer grew up on a small island in Australia fishing and messing about in boats. After originally studying conservation ecology, neuroscience and marine neurobiology, whilst also working in haematology, genetics and blood banking laboratories (and taking some time out to travel around the world crewing on yachts and visiting other small islands) she completed her Ph.D. in medical research/MRI data analysis and moved to Timor-Leste in 2016 as a volunteer in a local medical clinic. She immediately felt at home and has since worked as a consultant and volunteer with numerous local and international agencies – specialising in monitoring and evaluation, systems strengthening and mentoring and championing the new generation of Timorese scientists.
She was attracted to working at Blue Ventures because of its community focused approach and is proud to be taking on the role of Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator with a focus on collecting and sharing data about the positive social impact of Blue Ventures programmes in Timor-Leste.
