12 Jan January 12, 2017 in Conservation CoordinatorTimor-Lestejenny.firstname.lastname@example.orgJenny joined our Timor-Leste team as a Field Scientist at the start of 2017, primarily working with international and local volunteers to conduct reef and seagrass monitoring. Since then, her role has changed to Conservation Coordinator, which involves additional work with the local community and Blue Ventures’ conservation projects on Atauro Island. Jenny is motivated to work towards understanding local fisheries, alternative livelihoods, and the communities that rely on them. Jenny holds an MSc in Marine Environmental Management from the University of York, during which she conducted research projects on small-scale fisheries in the Maldives and how the global diving industry impacts the environment. Since then she spent time as a PADI dive instructor and worked as a Fisheries Scientist in Indonesia. Ecotourism, fisheries management and conservation are a great combination that we are applying in Timor-Leste!
