In 2012, she conducted her MSc thesis research in Zanzibar, investigating relationships between mangrove forest degradation and below ground carbon storage. Building on her field experience Lisa’s role in the Blue Forest team includes overseeing the continued development of our soil carbon analysis and managing the science requirements of our REDD+ projects. Lisa first joined the Blue Ventures team in 2013 working as a field scientist in Andavadoaka. She worked on optimising the design and schedule of surveys undertaken by expedition volunteers, whilst also trying to decipher the trends of coral reef health in Velondriake over the last 10 years. Despite her love of diving and coral reefs, being at home knee-deep in mangrove mud, Lisa is thrilled to be working with the Blue Carbon Science team.
