Louise Gardner

International Communications Coordinator
Norfolk, UK
As International Communications Manager, Louise provides a broad range of support across Blue Ventures, promoting the effective communication of our programmes both internally and externally. She brings over 10 years of experience in communicating conservation to diverse audiences in Madagascar and internationally, both in print and online.
Louise studied Experimental Psychology and Zoology (Joint Honours) at Bristol University, before working in Market Research at the RSPB headquarters in the UK, where she began to appreciate the power of communication as a conservation tool. She then moved to Madagascar in 2006, where she worked as a freelance wildlife photographer, conservation communicator and illustrator, supporting environmental education projects for various conservation organisations including Blue Ventures, ReefDoctor, Arboretum Antsokay, Madagascar National Parks and Honko.

Since she returned to England in 2015, Louise continued to assist Blue Ventures’ communications team as a consultant, and finally joined the UK-based team in 2017 in her current role.

Louise has co-written three books, Baobabs of the World (2016), Life Amongst the Thorns: Biodiversity and Conservation of Madagascar’s Spiny Forests (2015) and Les Arbres a l’Envers (2012), and her photographs have been widely published. She loves hiking, wildlife watching, dancing modern jive, and is now exploring her growing passion for plants and gardening.
