

Mark Lomas is currently Global Assurance Director with WaterAid, the international charity working for everyone everywhere to have access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene. Mark has worked at WaterAid since September 2007 and in his current role he manages the internal audit, data protection, compliance, legal and governance functions. Mark started his career in local Government, working for Greenwich, Westminster, Lewisham and Tower Hamlets Councils, where he qualified as a CIPFA accountant. After working in local government, Mark managed internal audit functions at Save the Children Fund UK, Capita (a FTSE 100 company), the Big Lottery Fund and The Children’s Society, before joining WaterAid.
Mark has had a love of the undersea world since childhood and has been a sport diver for well over 30 years, having dived in many parts of the world. Mark has previously volunteered as a diver in Thailand, working with an organisation called Reefwatch on coral reef conservation projects. Mark loves travelling and has been fortunate to do so extensively both for work and leisure. In his spare time, Mark likes writing and going to the gym. Mark is a vegetarian and a fan of Charlton Athletic.
