Abigail started working for Blue Ventures in 2015 as a field scientist in Madagascar before moving to a UK based role in 2016. She now works supporting Monitoring and Evaluation across Blue Ventures integrated programmes with a specific focus on the processes for collecting, managing and analysing the data collected by our field teams.
Like many, Abigail has wanted to work with the marine environment for as long as she can remember and was inspired by her many childhood trips to aquariums across the globe. During her undergraduate studies at Oxford University she gained experience in a range of marine science projects in both the Indo-Pacific and Caribbean. Completing a MSc in Tropical Coastal Management at Newcastle University allowed Abigail to study socio-ecological issues surrounding conservation. For her thesis she looked at the relationships between urchin densities, algal cover and coral disease prevalence in St Lucia. Before joining Blue Ventures she worked at the North Western Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority; ensuring that fisheries off the North West coast of England were managed sustainably.
