Our advocacy priorities
We’re committed to defending the rights of traditional fishers and safeguarding marine life long into the future through four main priorities:

Engaging governments
Building influence and strengthening relationships with national government agencies in each country we work in.

Building coalitions
For a global civil society movement building resilient oceans and uplifting the role of communities in leading change.

Ensuring secure rights
For priority and preference. Equipping communities to understand and claim rights to coastal seas.

Shifting narratives
Elevating the concerns and priorities of small-scale fishers and coastal communities on the world stage.
Through these actions, we will amplify the collective voice of fishers and help build a movement for change. A movement rooted in a human rights-based approach and in the United Nations’ Voluntary Guidelines for Securing Small-scale Fisheries and promoting the SSF Call to Action.
