Agatha joined Blue Ventures in April 2018 as the fisheries partner support technician for Kenya. Her role is to identify partner organisations in Kenya and East Africa and provide technical support and guidance to them them on fisheries monitoring and management.
Born and raised in central Kenya. Agatha fell in love with the ocean working with Kenya Wildlife Service, the national body managing parks and reserve systems, as a resource planner. Despite the apprehension of the hot and humid climate of coastal Kenya, working with local communities to develop management plans for marine conservation areas awoke the drive to venture into local lead fisheries co-management.
Agatha worked with East African Wildlife Society for seven years, rising in rank from a project officer responsible for implementation and testing co-management arrangements to a programme manager overseeing project implementation, leading partner collaboration and networking as well as promoting regional partnerships.
Agatha is a self-confessed people person who also loves long walks, yoga and morning runs to recharge. She enjoys reading history books and autobiographies to unwind and of course sampling the different coastal cuisines in East Africa.
