Dolce has worked as the community organiser for the Velondriake Locally-managed Marine Area (LMMA) since 2010, to support the local management committee and build capacity for management of marine resources in local communities. Dolce studied at IHSM (Institut Halieutique et des Sciences Marines) in Madagascar, where his four years of study focused on the marine fishery, aquaculture and quality control. In 2013, Dolce joined the Blue Forests team as project manager for a pilot Blue Forests project in the Velondriake LMMA.
Dolce is responsible for ensuring that the Blue Forests project is integrated with Blue Ventures’ existing programmes in the Velondriake LMMA and engaging local communities and regional authorities in the Blue Forests project. By working with other members of the Blue Forests team, Dolce is improving capacity for mangrove management and conservation through training and awareness raising regarding mangrove management and forest carbon projects. Simultaneously, Dolce is working assess the feasibility of mangrove payments for ecosystem services and REDD (reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation) which aims to achieve sustainable financing for mangrove conservation in Velondriake.
He joined the Mahajamba team as Blue Forests Coordinator in June 2018.
