Hanjara is Blue Ventures’ Blue Forests Coordinator based in our Ambanja office in northwest Madagascar. His role involves supporting communities to establish sustainable mangrove management and the reforestation of deforested areas. He is also responsible for supervision of the support we provide to develop alternative livelihood activities including terrestrial wood plantations, ecotourism and beekeeping.
Hanjara Rabemanantsoa studied geography at the University of Toamasina, specialising in Environmental Science and Sustainable Development in the Higher Institute of Environmental Sciences and Sustainable Development (ISSEDD, ex-GRENE Toamasina).
He began his career as an Environmental Consultant at the “TEFY” consulting firm, working in the field of construction and public works in the Antsinanana Region in 2009, to monitor compliance with the standard environmental and safety aspects in the work sites supported by the MCA programme.
He continued to enrich his experience at the National Centre for Training, Study of Environment and Forestry (CNFEREF, ex-CFPF) for six years in Morondava, Menabe Region. He succeeded in three key positions within this organisation as an ecotourism leader, responsible for operations and development, and responsible for training. He was then recruited as an environmental consultant in charge of support and supervision to farmers’ organisations receiving technical and financial support, from the Emergency Food Security and Social Protection Project (PURSAPS), in the District of Mahabo, Menabe Region.
