Health-Environment Partnerships Technical Lead
Antananarivo, Madagascar

Laura provides technical leadership for our work supporting partners in Madagascar, the broader western Indian Ocean region (Mozambique, Tanzania, Kenya, the Comoros) and southeast Asia to integrate community health promotion into local environmental conservation initiatives through cross-sector partnerships.

Before taking on this role, Laura was based in our London office managing our community health programme along Madagascar’s western coastline; overseeing its expansion from Velondriake to Belo sur Mer and the Barren Isles, now serving more than 25,000 people with partners including Marie Stopes Madagascar. During this time, she also supported the creation and development of Madagascar’s national PHE network.

Prior to joining Blue Ventures in January 2013, Laura lived on the southeast coast of Madagascar for two years, developing various community health projects for SEED Madagascar / Azafady (a British charity / Malagasy NGO) as part of their portfolio of sustainable development initiatives. She’s fluent in French and proficient in Malagasy, with a first class Geography degree from the University of Cambridge and an MSc in Health, Community & Development from the London School of Economics & Political Science.
