Masumi joined Blue Ventures as the Knowledge Development Coordinator. In this role, she provides support and helps build the capacity of Blue Ventures teams to develop and share knowledge outputs from their work in the form of technical reports, academic papers, toolkits and more.
Masumi is from Mombasa in Kenya, famous for its importance as an ancient trading port. From an early age she had a passion for natural history and conservation, cultivated over the years by Kenya’s wealth of natural resources. Masumi holds a BSc Hons in Ecology from the University of East Anglia, and an MSc in Conservation Biology from the University of Cape Town. Now with over 10 years of experience, Masumi has global work experience with some of the worlds leading conservation organisations (e.g. IUCN and BirdLife International). Her focus has been on using science and best practice to inform and link grassroots action to policy. Masumi has successfully executed over five multi-country projects and raised over US$10 million on sustainable land management, good governance and species conservation.
