Born in Viqueque municipality, Timor-Leste, he studied Fisheries Science at Tual State Fisheries Polytechnic in Maluku Island, Indonesia. Before joining Blue Ventures, he worked as an M&E Officer with the NGO Knua Haberan Comunidade (KHC) in partnership with CRS in Viqueque municipality. Nelson is grateful to be able to work with Blue Ventures and his experiences in Fisheries Sciences and M&E suitably align with the work BV does in Timor-Leste. He is keen to work with BV to conserve marine and fisheries resources for the next generations of Timor-Leste, and it is his dream to communicate to the communities the work BV has been doing in the country. He is excited to be able to work directly with the communities to help conserve their marine and fisheries resources – as a young Timorese, he likes working for his community, especially in coastal areas. He has been involved with youth volunteer groups in Dili, and loves to learn from other people as well as to share his own knowledge, experiences and skills, particularly in the field of fisheries and marine conservation. Outside of work, he enjoys working out, travelling, snorkelling, photography, and playing the guitar.
