Ryan joined Blue Ventures in 2019 to help drive the continued growth of Blue Venture’s community based ecotourism initiatives. With a background in project management and digital marketing, Ryan brings his expertise from the volunteer and ecotourism sector to build on sustainable ecotourism business models that support underserved small-scale fishing communities and provide tangible benefits to surrounding marine environments.
Ryan’s work with Blue Ventures began on our award winning marine conservation expeditions in Belize, Madagascar and Timor-Leste before moving on to project manage our seagrass conservation and alternative livelihoods work in Indonesia, Thailand and Timor-Leste.
Before working for Blue Ventures Ryan worked at Bristol Zoological Society as Senior Volunteer Coordinator, and has built volunteer programmes with Bristol Museum’s Natural History unit and Wild Place Project. Prior to building a career in volunteer management and wildlife conservation Ryan worked as a Direct Marketing Campaign Manager at a leading publishing company and has a BSc degree in Business Management from Aberystwyth University.
In his spare time Ryan is a keen adventurer and has spent long periods exploring remote habitats in South America, Central America and South East Asia. He also has a passion for wildlife photography, graphic design and sports.
