Tahiry joined Blue Ventures’ fisheries programme in November 2016 and was promoted to Fisheries Coordinator in January 2018. He leads the implementation of the fisheries programme strategies in the bay of Tsimipaika, including fisheries monitoring, management and research.
Prior to this he has worked with the Community Centred Conservation as Senior Programme Officer as well as some aquaculture companies for five years. He has MSc in applied Biochemistry and BSc in Natural Science from the University of Antsiranana and Mahajanga.
Besides that, he gained some further international and national training courses offered by Earthwatch institute, WIOMSA, Indian Ocean Commission, IHSM Toliara and Queensland University to enhance his background and experience. He has won awards from Earthwatch Institute and Idea Wild for his research, and is particularly interested in studying ecosystem services provided by mangrove forests and coral reefs.
Tahiry enjoys exploring new places, taking photographs and spending time with friends and family.
