A grounded approach to Blue Carbon

In 2019, we helped pioneer one of the world’s first fully verified, mangrove carbon projects. Our approach has always been different: Placing local rights and priorities at the centre. Along the way, we’ve contributed to the science, created open-source tools and methodologies, and shared our learning to support others working for just locally led climate solutions.

From Madagascar to Indonesia, we support coastal communities to steward their fisheries and blue carbon ecosystems within an integrated, locally led framework. This work is grounded in secure tenure, community knowledge, and collective governance laying the foundations for long-term protection and restoration of vital coastal habitats

We support traditional fishing communities to respond to the climate crisis in ways that reflect their priorities and lived realities. Through community-based monitoring, we’re collecting essential data on the extent and quality of coastal ecosystems - data that underpins effective local management and, can also quantify the carbon they store
