Invest in us

We are committed to developing effective approaches for safeguarding threatened marine biodiversity and traditional coastal livelihoods. By investing in us, you are making a critical contribution to expanding our impact by driving the adoption of our locally led marine conservation models.

A model for everyone working to conserve the natural life-support systems of our troubled planet.

When I look back, I can barely remember the person I was before I came to Andavadoaka. It has been a most wonderful and educational experience for me. I hate to have to go.

By donating to Blue Ventures, you will become part of a vibrant network of supporters who are involved closely with our work and updated regularly on our latest news, helping to develop and scale our marine conservation models.

We process general donations through BT Donate as this is a free service which allows every penny that you give to go directly towards our work. Please consider setting up a monthly donation!

As a field-based conservation organisation and British registered charity (number 1098893), 92% of our spending is channelled directly to supporting our conservation programmes in the tropical developing world. We steer clear of smart offices, and reject the excesses of many large conservation organisations. We keep administration costs to a minimum, with staff living and working alongside local community members wherever possible.

From taking part in an organised event to setting a personal goal for 2015, you can help us raise vital funds to continue our marine conservation work. It’s as simple as clicking on this link and setting up your fundraising page based on your big idea… then you’ve just got to do it!

From running a marathon or doing a sponsored swim to selling cakes at a coffee morning or celebrating a special occasion, there are as many ways to fundraise as you can imagine.

Need some help with planning or have a question before you start? Just contact us and we’ll be delighted to help.

Give through your online shopping
If you are based in the United Kingdom, you can support us by using Give as you Live. Simply sign up and it will donate to us every time you shop online – at no extra cost to yourself!

Laptops and mobile phones
Contact us if you have a laptop or mobile phone in good working condition that you could donate for our field-based teams. Smart phones are particularly welcome, as we use these for collecting fisheries and health service data.

Sponsor an education

Only 1 in 3 children in the Velondriake area of southwest Madagascar go to school. Most do not make it beyond primary level and girls drop out far more often than boys.

We provide young people with access to the educational opportunities they need to realise their full potential and advance marine conservation within their communities.

This year we are sending more than 200 children to school thanks to the generous donations and fundraising efforts of our supporters.

Scholars are selected on the basis of financial need and academic achievement. These students could not afford to go to school without your support. We provide them with uniforms, stationery and textbooks. We also run a variety of extra-curricular activities with local teachers to ensure that they receive the most robust package of support and highest quality of education possible.

Families in the region typically have 6-7 children and, when faced with the financial decision of who to send to school, boys are often given priority over girls. In addition to focusing special attention on girls’ education in Velondriake through our school scholarships programme, we have also supported the creation of a girls’ club which provides a forum for girls to discuss issues affecting them, find practical solutions and encourage each other to complete their schooling.

A monthly donation of £5 is enough to send two children to primary or middle school every year – this includes fees, uniform and stationary.

A single donation of £30 is enough to send a child to primary school or middle school for a year – this includes fees, uniform and stationery.

A single donation of £50 is enough to send a young person to high school for a year – this includes fees, uniform, stationery and textbooks.

Every little bit can help towards tutoring, mentoring and teacher training.

General funds allow us to provide extra tutoring and mentoring sessions, and run teacher training activities at our partner school in Andavadoaka.

As a mission-driven organisation, with an exciting vision for our models to reach 3 million people by 2020, we count on strategic and unrestricted investment in order to be able to pursue new opportunities for networking communities and supporting partners.
