Sophie Benbow, Blue Ventures Research Development Coordinator, was invited to deliver the keynote lecture at this conference, presenting a history of Blue Ventures Conservation following the conference theme of ‘The Power of One’.
More than 70 children aged between 8 and 16 attended the 2-day conference and closing ceremony.
Sophie also gave a free public lecture to the community of Bermuda which attracted a record attendance for a Bermuda Zoological Society (BZS) lecture and was extremely well received.
BAMZ has chosen an island theme for the exhibits at its Zoo aiming to ‘inspire care and conservation of island environments’, and is currently developing plans for a Madagascar themed exhibit.
It is hoped that a long-term link can be formed between Blue Ventures, BAMZ and BZS with case studies taken from Andavadoaka presented to the Bermudian public through displays at the new exhibit.
