Matt Hudson, age 24, a volunteer on an expedition to Andavadoaka, Madagascar in September 2008, took the photograph whilst carrying out research with marine conservation NGO Blue Ventures. The image is of a tiny porcelain crab which Matt spotted hiding in an anemone whilst he was was surveying a reef.
This isn’t the first time that the photograph has won an accolade – it also won a prize in a competition run by PADI Sports Diver magazine for underwater photography in warm-water.
