Symphorien’s connection with BV started when he was still in primary school, as one of the students supported through BV’s scholarship programme in Andavadoaka. As he got older, he became increasingly involved in extra curricular activities that BV offered students and stood out as a natural leader. Every spare moment he had, he spent in the education centre, studying english, learning the ins and outs of different computer software and teaching what he had learned to his peers.
At age 16 in 2014/2015 during a year in which he was unable to study, Symphorien continued to build his skills as an intern with the education team, leading environmental clubs and animating village film nights.
His true passions include music and filmmaking. In early 2018, he participated in an apprenticeship in Antsirabe over the course of two months to learn how to make backing tracks for songs and to film and edit music videos. These skills have been essential in Symphorien’s role as Outreach Media Technician, as a large component of the community outreach team’s work is encouraging community members to share their voices through a variety of different means including artistic expression. outside of creating environmental and health themed music videos with community members and students, Symphorien works across projects on outreach films and the production of our bimonthly radio shows.
