BV’s international governance board oversees all charity business, approving strategies and financial plans, and ensuring that all activities are in accordance with relevant laws and our charitable purpose. Drawn from fields as diverse as fisheries policy and open data, our trustees are united by a strong belief in putting people at the heart of conservation.
Appointed November 2024. Dougal is Vice President of Operations at the World Cocoa Foundation, leading finance strategy and operations. He has held CFO roles at Oxford Policy Management and GAIN, and has served as a trustee at Global Canopy
Appointed 1st January 2022. Fiona worked as Director at Marks & Spencer, as the Managing Director of Figleaves, and as a trustee at the Octavia Foundation and Smart Works.
Appointed November 2024. John is a former COO and Finance Director in the not-for-profit sector, having worked at ActionAid, International Planned Parenthood, and Leonard Cheshire. He previously held senior finance roles at Cadbury Schweppes and is currently a trustee for Watford Mencap and Hope and Homes for Children.
Appointed 13th June 2023. Meg is the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Lead at Medecins Sans Frontieres. She recently served as the Global Head of Culture Change at Oxfam International.
Appointed 31st July 2021. Peter has degrees in Zoology and Public Health Engineering and a lifelong passion for aquatic environments and their protection. He is the Chair (and founder) of Malawi Schools Trust, a Charity working to improve schools in rural Malawi.
Appointed 13th June 2023. Ruma Mandal is a human rights specialist and international lawyer with extensive experience of working on high profile issues with the United Nations, governments and research institutes. She is an Associate Fellow of the International Law Programme, Chatham House.
Appointed 27th March 2023. Rupen is a financial professional with over twenty five years of experience in investment management. He is currently a Managing Director at Rothschild & Co and serves as the Co-Head of Portfolio Management.
Appointed 1st July 2021. Zoe is a senior HR Leader, with multi-sector experience, having worked for privately owned SMEs and large PLCs. During her career, she has been involved in all aspects of HR.
