It explains the threats faced by seagrass and lists the many causes including coastal development, dredging, disease, invasive species, poor water quality, destructive fishing practices such as anchor damage and trawling, and of course climate change The author, Ruscena Wiederholt, acknowledges that schemes such as blue carbon credits can be positive, but can only when combined with serious steps to reducing carbon emissions.
